Disney Junior's animated series Jake and the Neverland Pirates is a hit with kids.  Its an award winning musical, interactive show based on Disney's Peter Pan.  The show's band of young pirates Jake, Izzy, Cubby and their parrot Skully spend their days thwarting Captain Hook, Mr Smee and the Crocodile Tick Tock.

I remember those wonderful fall days of my childhood filled with the smells and sounds of autumn.   The trees wearing their new coats of blazing color, the air crisp and cool.  Coming home to the smell of freshly baked apple pie.

The most exciting thing about fall was without a doubt Halloween.  We always looked forward to picking out a costume and getting ready to go trick or treating.  During this time of anticipation we always settled down one night in front of the television to watch Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

Those lovable Peanuts holiday cartoons have a become a beloved part of my childhood memories.  The characters indeliably etched into my mind are as warm and familiar as any childhood friend.  Who could forget Linus convincing Sally to skip tricks or treats and wait for the Great Pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.  And Snoopy sneaking out across the dark forest to battle the Red Baron atop his doghouse. 

Good ol Charlie Brown who exclaims after every house "I got a rock".  And then later at the party Lucy uses Charlie Brown's head to diagram her Jack O'Lantern.  Later Snoopy exacts revenge for Charlie by kissing Lucy while bobbing for apples, leading her to exclaim "Aack I've been kissed by a dog!"

Just seeing the cartoon on even today brings back all those childhood memories.  The sights, the smells and your family all gathered together.

Decorate Your Yard With Inflated Spirits This Halloween

 

Halloween is just around the corner.  It is never to early to begin planning your decorations for those great Halloween parties.  Even if you just want to delight the little trick or treaters in your neighborhood, the right decorations are the key to success.

 

I personally like to pick a theme every year and create a whole scene in my yard.  I have done creepy cemeteries with ghosts and witches.  I managed to find a cemetery gate which I placed at the front of the yard.  I then placed cemetery fencing around the rest of the yard.

 

After putting up the gate and the fencing I began to lay out my graveyard. I used tombstones and various ghosts.  I had peeking ghosts, hanging ghosts and ghosts that lit up.  It delighted all the trick or treaters that came to our house that year.  People even posed for pictures in front of the cemetery gate.

 

The best way to get started is to choose a theme and decide upon a centerpiece for your theme.  I have found that Halloween inflatables make a great centerpiece for your yard decorating.  Here we will explore some great inflatables that you can use to build your theme around.

2013 Hot Halloween Costumes for Kids

Even though it is just July, Halloween will be upon us before we know it.  The crisp feeling in the air, the leaves turning brilliant shades of orange, red and yellow and the jack'o lanterns that will begin to light up the porches.  Children from toddlers to teens will be excited at the prospect of becoming their favorite character for trick or treat or a fun Halloween party. 

 

I can remember from my childhood the excitement of choosing just the right costume.  In those days it was usually a gypsy, a witch or one of those famous Universal monsters.  But these days kids have a plethora of costumes from which to choose.  They can become their favorite movie character, cartoon hero, tv star or comic book character.

WHO DOESN'T LOVE HORSES?

 

I might be showing my age a bit but I remember watching Roy Rogers on Saturday afternoons and wishing I had a horse likeTrigger.  What a beautiful Palomino! 

The best summer of my childhood was when my Granddad came home with a Shetland Pony in the trailer.  His name was Ike and he was an ornery old pony.  His favorite thing was to head straight for a tree to see if he could knock you off on your rear.  He didn't take to being rode very well.  But my sister and I loved him anyway. 

Not only did we love our real pony but we loved playing with toy horses.  And now that we have online stores we love selling toy horses!  Every time we send one out we say a little prayer that whoever receives it enjoys it as much as we enjoyed our toy horses.
