Scary Bigfoot Story

Since Halloween is approaching, I am going to tell the most terrifying experience of my life. I have been scared many times in my life, but this particular experience put all of the others into the shadow.

I live in a rural area and sightings of unusual creatures have happened quite frequently. Now I am not talking about the local eccentric people, but reputable and sane people. My own Granddad and a friend saw a Bigfoot like creature along the riverbank one day. He used to tell that story and we would laugh. We were a little skeptical to say the least.

Well years later my sister and I shared a house on the family farm. We both worked in town but enjoyed living on the family place. It was just home so not scary or anything. Sometimes it was a little creepy when a storm came up and we had to go outside to the cellar. Otherwise it was usually uneventful.

Until the night it happened. It was about 4 0'clock in the morning. We were both asleep. I awoke to the loudest screaming noise I have ever heard. I was instantly awake. I immediatley went to see if my sister was awake and found her as myself wide awake.

At first we thought it was some maniac in the trees around the house. But the sound was so loud a human voice could not possible make this sound. It was nowhere and everywhere. It was constant.

We finally worked up the courage to creep into the hallway to peer out the window in the back door. We had two dogs in the house and three outside dogs. The outside dogs who barked at everything were lying on the porch not making a sound. The inside dogs were glued to our legs terrified.

I peered out the window. The yard light was on but I could see nothing. The noise continued, an ear splitting scream. It seemed to be moving just outside the light from west to east. It seemed as if I would go mad if this noise did not stop. And then it did. It stopped as suddenly as it had started. Then just silence.

We were terrified. We just huddled in the hall, afraid to move for at least an hour. We were filled with dread that it would start again. Would it come closer or try to get into the house? We didn't know what to think.

Finally it began to get light. We peered outside the window into the grey morning light but saw nothing. Finally, we could begin to believe it was gone. We waited until about 8 a.m. before calling our parents. We told our Dad about the experience. He said it was probably a badger. There is no way a badger could make that noise. One of our dogs loved to fight badgers, yet he did not move from the porch. It was NOT a badger.

Anyway Daddy came out and brought a shotgun. It made us feel a little safer, but not much. A few months later we moved to town. We never felt safe on the family farm after that night.

Now, I don't know what Bigfoot is supposed to sound like, but I believe I have heard him. I don't have any other explanation. We didn't tell anyone this story for years for fear of being ridiculed. But it is true and it happened to me. I don't know for sure what it was, but I do know I am glad I did not see it and I never want to hear it again.

That is my scariest experience ever. Anyone want to share their own feel free.

Decorate Your Kids Room With a Great Theme

It can be easy and fun to decorate a child's room. With a little imagination, you can give them a room they will love.

When my niece was younger she loved dogs. She loved the movie "101 Dalmatians". She even loved the live action one. Unfortunately, I did not share her view. Anyway, we decided to fix her room up as a surprise. I bought a 101 Dalmatians comforter for her bed. It was very cute. It had Lucky the pup and was trimmed with bones.

I bought some wall border which had puppies and kittens. We did two of her walls with the wall border. I also found some 101 Dalmatians wall stencils. We stenciled a doghouse and some colorful bones around it on one wall.

I also found a used 101 Dalmatians clock on Ebay which I bought for not much of anything. The clock was a great touch.

I bought some plain blue curtains to match the blue in the comforter. We added further touches by hanging a wall shelf and placing little dog figurines on the shelf. My niece used to buy these little figurines at garage sales and as it turned out they made great decorations for her room.

She loved the room and it was very cute. The best thing was it didn't cost much money. We just tied everything in to match the comforter.

Of course she is a teenager now and the dogs are long gone. But I still miss them!

Fall Is Just Around the Corner!

Fall is my favorite time of year and it is just around the corner.  This week has been unseasonably cool and rainy where I live.   The air already has a fall feeling.  I love the changing of the colors that autumn brings.  The trees will be ablaze with red and orange and the air will be cool and crisp.

Fall also brings my favorite holiday, Halloween.  Every Halloween we decorate our yard with a haunted house with a graveyard in the front.  We have ghosts, witches with brewing cauldrons and jack o'lanterns galore.  The kids love it when they come trick or treating.  I actually enjoy decorating for Halloween more than Christmas.  It's such spooky fun! 

When I was a kid we always gathered around the TV to watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.  It is still my favorite Halloween cartoon.  We still watch it every year.  Peanuts is timeless and Snoopy is a superstar.

Brass Key is a small family owned business who started out making such things as brass beds. The company is based in Seattle, Washington and was founded by Bill and Margaret Suiter.

While visiting one of their brass bed vendors Suiter's daughter noticed a room full of beautiful dolls and the Brass Key doll idea was born. Brass Key entered the doll market in the 1990's.

Their dolls were first featured in the Nordstrom catalog and later carried by Target stores. The dolls were great sellers.

The wonderful thing about Brass Key dolls is their beauty. Their faces are exquisite as well as their outfits. They are fit for any collector yet they are very affordable.

Brass Key won over the very selective Disney Company with their beautiful dolls and attention to detail. The first Disney Princess line was launced in 2002. The line has featured many Disney Princesses including Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Jasmine and even Tinker Bell.




Brass Key has also introduced a new line of Disney Holiday Villages including Pooh's 100 Acre Wood, Cinderella and Snow White cottages. Great for holiday decorating!

In 2004 Brass Key was awarded Disney's Vendor of the Year. Quite an honor for this little doll company.

I love the Brass Key dolls. They are beautiful and elegant. They look gorgeous on display. Brass Key has different sizes of dolls. The large dolls are 16" and they also have 7" dolls.



I have just added 3 sets of Brass Key Dolls in my store. The new line of Disney Princess Enchanted Nursery dolls is adorable. I have a set of Cinderella, Snow White and Aurora Enchanted Nursery dolls. I also have two sets which feature Belle and Snow White. Tinker Bell

Did you know Tinker Bell made her Disney debut on May 5, 1953. She is still an icon for Disney after all these years. Tinker Bell is perhaps one of the most well known Disney characters. It seems Disney has begun marketing a lot of Tinker Bell items in recent years. Tinker Bell has become a star in her own right eclipsing her much beloved Peter Pan.

I have a lot of great Tinker Bell items in my store. I always look for Disney items I can offer at bargain prices to my customers. I have a great Tinker Bell set listed now. It is never to early to think about Christmas.
