The Wizard of Oz will be celebrating it's 75th Anniversary. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was a novel by L. Frank Baum. It was adapted into a musical fantasy film in 1939. The film stars Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Frank Morgan, Billy Burke and Terry the Dog as Toto.
The film tells the story of Kansas farm girl Dorothy. Dorothy runs away with her pet dog Toto to keep Toto from being put to sleep. She meets Professor Marvel a traveling showman. The Professor convinces Dorothy to return home.
As Dorothy reaches her Aunt Em's farm she is swept up into a tornado. Dorothy and her house land in the colorful Land of Oz. There Dorothy meets the Good Witch Glinda and the singing munchkins.
She sets off down the yellow brick road in search of the Wizard, who she hopes will help her get home. Along the way she befriends the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow. These friends have to find the Wizard while trying to avoid the Wicked Witch of the West.
It is a beautiful timeless classic, woven into the memories of children for decades. It is now been 75 years since the premiere of this fantasy adventure.
