Halloween kicks off the holiday season in spooky fashion. While most everyone thinks of costumes and trick or treating, there is also the thrill of being scared by a great movie.
Choosing an appropriate Halloween movie for the kids can be tricky. It needs to have enough scary to be fun but not so much as to have the kids in bed with you later that night.

This movie is a great movie to watch with the family. Its cute and entertaining. I watch this with my family every Halloween as a tradition.
Roo's best new pal, Lumpy, is excited to trick-or-treat for the first time ... until Tigger warns them about the dreaded Gobloon, who'll turn you into a Jaggedy Lantern if he catches you.
But if they catch the Gobloon before it catches them, they get to make a wish! With Roo by his side, Lumpy knows he can face anything. So when Pooh eats all the Halloween candy, Lumpy and Roo decide to be "brave together, brave forever" and catch the Gobloon so they can wish for more. When the two friends become separated, however, Roo decides to wish for something even more important.

A spooky theme runs through several stories in this collection. "The Monster Frankenpooh" finds Dr. Von Tigger turning Pooh into a somewhat familiar-looking, scary creature. "Things That Go Piglet in the Night" features the characters on a ghost chase, and "Pooh Moon" finds Pooh and Piglet searching for honey while everyone else assumes they're missing--not just missing, but taken by the Grabme Gotcha. Charming visuals, terrific characters, touching stories. A winner.
It's a rainy day, and Pooh and his friends are spending it in Christopher Robin's attic. Two stories from the delightful animated series follow: "A Knight to Remember," which finds the timid Piglet transported to a magical kingdom, where he fights a dreadful dragon, and "Rock-a-Bye Pooh Bear," in which Piglet has a nightmare and is afraid to go back to sleep.
This Winnie the Pooh video is a classic in my opinion. My kids love watching it, even when it's not Halloween!

If you're looking for a great movie for the whole family to watch, that actually has good acting and a decent plot? Look no further. Patrick Stewart is fabulous
No one loves the cold months better than acerbic fat cat Garfield, who thrives on a bounty of junk food and traditional meals in the delightful collection of musical-comedy TV specials Garfield Holiday Celebrations. "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" finds the portly hero and airhead-sidekick Odie the dog scrounging through owner Jon's attic to find perfect costumes, then encountering ghosts and ghoulies that seem a tad authentic.
"Garfield's Thanksgiving" is a screwball special in which Jon harasses veterinarian Liz into being his Turkey Day guest. Trouble is, Jon is clueless about how to cook a big bird; fortunately, starving Garfield has the good sense to call in Jon's spirited grandmother for a culinary rescue.
Grandma shows up, too, in "A Garfield Christmas," about a family get-together that covers all the nice holiday stuff and, of course, lots of bickering, pouting, and jealousy. As long as Garfield gets his Yuletide lasagna, however, all is right with the world.
These classic cartoons are wonderful to watch and incorporate into your holiday activities. Great fun for the entire family holiday celebrations.
This 1949 Disney feature has never been available on video in its original form until now. The 68-minute film contains two shorts: The Wind in the Willows and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The former is a lively version of Kenneth Grahame's book of animal adventures, including Mr. Toad, a rambunctious sort with a passion for motorcars. Basil Rathbone narrates the story.
Sleepy Hollow is the Washington Irving story of a stuffy schoolmaster and his ability to win the love of the fair Katrina from the brutish Brom Van Brunt. Many fans will see a resemblance to Disney's masterpiece created some 40 years later, Beauty and the Beast, in style and story. The end is still scary enough to send youngsters under the table. Bing Crosby supplies the narration, character voices, and songs. The opening number in a library including two stories has been included in this good-looking restoration. The shorts were made in Disney's prime, a year before Cinderella, and the look is wondrous. The exaggeration of Ichabod's skinny frame and his slumping horse is a glorious example.
Disney's Ichabod still reigns as the best. Bing Crosby's melodious voice is pure delight. This DVD is autumn viewing at its most glorious. Simply classic, a must have for the Disney fan, or addition to any Halloween film collection. The other reviews say it all. Gorgeous, sentimental and always a joy to watch.

What a great magical movie filled with adventure, friendship, and the history of Halloween! My family LOVES this movie. We watch it every year!
The Ghost and Mr. Chicken

I remembered this movie from childhood. I'm a big fan of ghost and haunted houses, and with the humor of Don Knotts it's quite a rib tickler. If you need a good laugh,this fellow will do it for you
These are all great choices for a night of spooky movie fun with the kids.
