2014 Fall Decorating Ideas For The Porch And Outdoors

Autumn is almost here. Summer is waning and the crisp cool days of fall will soon be upon us. 

Fall is my favorite time of the year.  It is sometimes forgotten between Halloween and Christmas.  I however, love the month of November and decorating for Thanksgiving. 

One of the things I love to do is decorate my porch in fall décor.  I also decorate the lawn for Halloween and fall. 

You can be as elaborate or as simple as your budget allows.  You can create a great fall outdoor decor using simple themes.

Here are some great ideas to help you create an easy outdoor fall display.

Move Over Peter Pan Jake and The Neverland Pirates Are Here

Have A Snoopy Halloween With These Peanuts Collectibles

I remember those wonderful fall days of my childhood filled with the smells and sounds of autumn.   The trees wearing their new coats of blazing color, the air crisp and cool.  Coming home to the smell of freshly baked apple pie.

The most exciting thing about fall was without a doubt Halloween.  We always looked forward to picking out a costume and getting ready to go trick or treating.  During this time of anticipation we always settled down one night in front of the television to watch Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

Those lovable Peanuts holiday cartoons have a become a beloved part of my childhood memories.  The characters indeliably etched into my mind are as warm and familiar as any childhood friend.  Who could forget Linus convincing Sally to skip tricks or treats and wait for the Great Pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.  And Snoopy sneaking out across the dark forest to battle the Red Baron atop his doghouse. 

Good ol Charlie Brown who exclaims after every house "I got a rock".  And then later at the party Lucy uses Charlie Brown's head to diagram her Jack O'Lantern.  Later Snoopy exacts revenge for Charlie by kissing Lucy while bobbing for apples, leading her to exclaim "Aack I've been kissed by a dog!"

Just seeing the cartoon on even today brings back all those childhood memories.  The sights, the smells and your family all gathered together.

Decorate Your Yard With Inflated Spirits This Halloween

 

Halloween is just around the corner.  It is never to early to begin planning your decorations for those great Halloween parties.  Even if you just want to delight the little trick or treaters in your neighborhood, the right decorations are the key to success.

 

I personally like to pick a theme every year and create a whole scene in my yard.  I have done creepy cemeteries with ghosts and witches.  I managed to find a cemetery gate which I placed at the front of the yard.  I then placed cemetery fencing around the rest of the yard.

 

After putting up the gate and the fencing I began to lay out my graveyard. I used tombstones and various ghosts.  I had peeking ghosts, hanging ghosts and ghosts that lit up.  It delighted all the trick or treaters that came to our house that year.  People even posed for pictures in front of the cemetery gate.

 

The best way to get started is to choose a theme and decide upon a centerpiece for your theme.  I have found that Halloween inflatables make a great centerpiece for your yard decorating.  Here we will explore some great inflatables that you can use to build your theme around.
